The best thing about these is obviously the price. But as someone who has been wearing a pair of Phonak $6000 hearing aids for the past 8 years, I can honestly say these are a terrific alternative. I bought two thinking that even if they were just OK they would be a good backup or good for when I want to go outside and be active and could possibly get the expensive ones wet or damaged. They exceeded all my expectations. BUT... you really need to take the time to customize them to your hearing level and ear size. They give you all the tools to do this, but it will take you a few days or weeks to figure out what works for you. I am a relatively small female, and I ended up finding that the open, small ear domes worked best for me and were most comfortable (they come with the medium, closed domes attached). I saw in a lot of other reviews that people complained about the ear domes getting lost in their ears. THIS HAPPENED WITH MY $6000 HEARING AIDS AS WELL (I had to go to urgent care one time to get one removed). You really need to make sure these things are attached well and if they start to get worn or stretched to replace them. I also found that Setting 2 and mid-volume worked well on one ear but a higher volume was needed on the other ear, which was not surprising because I know that my right ear is worse than my left. One other thing: I open the battery compartment every night after I take them out to save batteries. When you close the battery compartment the next day the aids go back to the default setting, so you have to take about 30 seconds to set them to your preferred settings again. And finally, they send a return shipping label with the aids, so they are serious about their money back guarantee. I won't be returning mine; I love them!
I’ve used both open and closed ear domes with my Elite hearing aids. Obviously, people need to use what’s best for THEM. But for ME, I’m switching over to the closed domes. My biggest frustration has been trying to hear people in noisy environments filled with a lot of background noise. By using closed domes and Program 2 on the hearing aids, it makes it much easier to hear the person sitting right in front of me who I am talking with.
Hi. The are great but need large for one ear but will get in the future.
Thank You, and the aids are working very well.!!!
I am very disappointed that the bluetooth does not work and your support personal could not fix it. I am not getting what I paid for
These were the wrong batteries. I have returned them. I was told the correct batteries are being sent.
Great service as usual from Otofonix, sending replacement sound tubes and domes. Great value product with Texas friendly support staff. Quick contact with a knowledgable pro.
No matter how I adjust the settings and volume, I keep having audio feedback. It can be very distracting. I've had better hearing aids
the title says it all - limited vision made it impossible for me to select the proper dots…Thank you
Sorry I ordered the wrong tubes and sent them back with hearing aid that needs repair. I reordered Elite tubes that fit perfect and the service was great. Waiting to hear back on repairs. Thank You.
I like battery operated devices because its one less thing to have to rememter to do (charge) and take. Its always in my purse ready to use in a moment. And I like my otofonix elite a lot for price and serviceability.
The amplification suits my hearing needs. The Elite model is sleek and discreet and wearing it is very comfortable. Customer support was exceptional which made for a positive experience. Thank you.
Not excellent but very useful at reasonable cost
Excellent sound tubes with limited life and sometimes stay in my ear when I take the hearing aide off. Also unfortunately expensive.
I have had these hearing aids in use for at least part of every day for 10 days. Briefly, they’re great. They DO (as the manual says) take some getting used to - but this is my first experience with hearing aids so I’m getting used to hearing aids AND (in particular) the Groove. So - I have almost picked up the phone a couple of times (very very good initial call when purchasing) - but for minor things that have less to do with my hearing than I’d like to admit - the iPhone program flashes a message repeatedly each time I go to the controls and the Bluetooth ‘drops out’ more than it should - but the hearing aids work well. I spent most of today in a busy Apple Store - a very busy and noisy environment - and I could hear clearly and function well. Just now we’re in front of the TV news and have adjusted volume and program and all is well. (I will call and talk with you folks soon.)
I love these hearing aids! For the price these are the best hearing aids that I have had during my 15+ years of wearing hearing aids. The batteries last a much longer time than the other brands that I have worn. My only complaint is that the battery door is hard to open, but it gets easier over time to do that.
Sona is a great performing hearing aid, with some very well designed features. It does use a #13 battery while many newer model hearing aids have gone to rechargeable technology. Personally I have worn hearing aids for over twenty years and I do not find batteries difficult to change. A #13 battery is also large enough to last a good length of time before requiring a new battery. I tend to forget to plug in rechargeable devices. These Sona hearing aids are easy to set up with the smartphone app, volume changes via smartphone can easily be applied anywhere. Design is very good, as is the build quality. I particularly like the fact that the battery compartment need only be cracked open to shut off the Sona. Comfort is very good, I forget that I have them on! Noise and feedback are well controlled, and sound is crisp and clear. I have moderate hearing loss and on other hearing aids that I have owned I could obtain adequate volume levels only by using closed dome ear pieces. These Soma aids came set up with the "Magic" hybrid type domes which so far seem to be giving me enough volume while remaining very comfortable. These are the best hearing aids that I have owned to date and I am satisfied.
When they die about once a week, you simply install a new one of these cheap batteries. It takes about one minute, not hours, to recharge. No looking for a charger or an electric plug, especially when on vacation in the woods. Buy one Encore for your worst ear, if you are a happy customer like, buy one for the other ear. Be sure to send Otofonix a copy of your hearing test before you purchase so that they can verify if the Encore is the correct device for you. My Encore has almost no feedback when correctly installed in my ear. I am very happy with my purchase.
